Nigel Hall

Nigel Hall

Nigel was born in New Zealand and spent 5 years in Canterbury being mentored and coached by Mike Cron, the All Blacks World Cup Winning Scrum coach.  Nigel’s playing career in New Zealand included starring in the Air New Zealand cup for Otago and winning 5 caps for the New Zealand Divisional XV.

Nigel moved to Nottingham in 2004 and made 117 appearances for the Championship Club.  During his time at Nottingham he was a prolific try scorer, going over the line 11 times in one season and notching up 85 points in total for the first division club before joining Newport Gwent Dragons in 2008.

Nigel made 28 appearances for the region in a pack including Wales and British and Irish Lions legend, Colin Charvis.

In December 2010, after a career that included 4 appearances for the world famous Barbarians, the 32-year old tighthead ruptured his Achilles tendon during the region’s Heineken Cup game against London Wasps and was forced to retire in October 2011.

Now, Nigel has joined forces with Major Oak Sports Coaching to devise a scrum coaching program where he intends to pass on the knowledge learned from arguably the best scrum coach in the world, Mike Cron, and his own experience from playing top flight rugby in both NZ and the UK.
